TWO-SPIRIT mi’kmaw ARTIST wagmatcook first nation / Ottawa On.

Ceilidh Isadore is a Two-Spirit multidisciplinary artist from Wagmatcook First Nation committed to combining their creative expressions with community collaborations while honouring their responsibilities to the natural world. Embracing the wisdom of those who came before them and inspired by the kindness they've received throughout their life, Ceilidh strives to create experiences, spaces, and opportunities accessible to nurture the dreams of future generations.

As a Cultural Coordinator, Ceilidh organizes events that celebrate and unite traditional knowledge while inviting folks to safe, inclusive spaces. They collaborate with various people and organizations to offer workshops, events, social fires, and ceremonies, encouraging the idea that gathering is essential for healing and harm reduction.

Ceilidh pays homage to the natural world and traditional symbols such as hieroglyphics within their artwork, expressing these themes through canvas painting, digital art, fine-line work, poetry, and public engagements. Each piece tells a story, capturing their experiences, spirit communications and their commitment to passing on the same tools and gits that have helped them along the way. Ceilidh's art aims to bring hope, uplift future generations, and illustrate what it looks like to dance with our traditional systems, governance, values, understandings, and stories created to take care of us.

Guided by their responsibility to their ancestors, teachers, role models, family, friends and beings of the natural world, Ceilidh dedicates themselves to creating more accessible and supportive pathways for those around and those yet to come. They actively encourage and support younger generations, empowering them to lead the way and shape the future. They are both students and teachers, understanding that everyone walks along the same grass and there is always something to learn.

In their journey as an artist, facilitator, and community helper, Ceilidh has taken on various roles, including Fire Keeper, Ishkodehwin Mentor, Podcast Host, Jingle Dress Dancer, Educational & Cultural Consultant and Workshop Facilitator. They have participated in radio interviews, panel discussions, magazine publishings and mentorship programs, always eager to share their wisdom and learn from others. These roles and responsibilities have been apparent to Ceilidh since they were 12 during the Idle No More Movement. Fortunately, Ceilidh and their father were helpers during this time, soaking up priceless stories, knowledge, experiences, ceremonies, songs, dances and visions for the future. Ceilidh aims to represent Idle No More respectfully and graciously, to celebrate its influence, and create more awareness around rights as communities, animals, waterways and parts of nature.

Ceilidh invites you to explore the stories and personalities within their art, words, and conversations. Each piece holds traditional teachings, songs, ideas, beings, spirits and messages from the ancestral world. Grateful for their support, Ceilidh is committed to giving back by acknowledging and appreciating each being—from this world to the next—and offering them the chance to be themselves and to express themselves through whatever medium they choose. They also love giving back by providing tools, tips, tricks, tutorials, and advice for folks who need an extra hand in their creative journey.

Connect with Ceilidh to experience their art and join their love for community building, fostering creativity, and honouring the balance of the natural world. Wela’lioq! Thank you very much. Ceilidh is grateful for the support, the connections and for the chance to build positive relations.
